Dairy consumption linked to acne.
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology found a correlation between dairy consumption and acne. High glycemic index foods can worsen acne breakouts.
A study done on Australian males between 15-25 who had a low-glycemic load diet experienced significant improvement of their skin than those who didn’t. Other studies have shown that medical treatments that fight acne breakouts are linked to the body’s ability to regulate and control blood sugar. Those who had a low-carbohydrate diet had less breakouts than those who didn’t.
The American Academy of Dermatology are now having patients limit dairy products to see if it helps. Dr Bowe, a professor of dermatology at Sate University of New York noted, “These studies show that low-glycemic index diets may improve acne. The consumption of high-glycemic index foods appears to trigger a cascade of responses, which can lead to acne through effects on growth hormones and sex hormones.”
